Doug Chivington

After 35 years of working at a Fortune 100 Company, Doug Chivington decided to retire and participate in nonprofit work. Doug comes from a military family including two of his children, one who served in the Air Force and his oldest son who has been medically retired from the Army.

In 2006, the Chivington family experienced a combat related injury and recovery. Doug’s oldest son was injured by an IED and after 2 years of rehabilitation is now enjoying a fulfilling career and family.

For Doug, the nonprofit work is a desire to give back, as many resources were provided to ensure a successful outcome for his eldest son.

Since 2010 Doug has raised over $41,000 for wounded, fallen veterans and their families for many different nonprofit organizations.

The current platform that Doug is using for awareness and fundraising is a sport called Ultra Cycling. Doug has been a runner and cyclist for over 40 years and since retirement he has been focusing on long distance cycling on a full-time basis. Ultra-Cycling is defined as distances past 100 miles.

Doug has created an Ultra Cycling Team called “Team Chivington” and the purpose is to support efforts not only in Ultra Cycling but bringing awareness to the ongoing efforts for our veterans
